FAQS

HOW TO MAKE BEST USE OF MILK_SHAKE® THE GLOSS IN YOUR SALON

1. What is an acidic hair colouring treatment?

It’s colour that has a combination of chemical elements that, once mixed with the specific activator (developer), transforms the blend, making it acidic (pH 6.7) which then gives colour tones to the hair without modifying the hair’s structure.

2. How is it positioned within the spectrum of milk_shake® colour ranges?

Due to its colouring strength, milk_shake® the gloss colour is positioned between milk_shake® direct colour and milk_shake® smoothies semi-permanent colour.

3. Does milk_shake® the gloss colour lighten the hair’s natural colour?

No! The fact that its pH is lower than 7 and the developer works at low volumes means the hair’s natural colour is not modified.

4. Does milk_shake® the gloss colour give grey coverage?

By using the same level or choosing darker levels according to the hair’s natural colour, it can mask greys up to 50%.

Mixing – Creating the Magic Potion

5. What should milk_shake® the gloss colour be mixed with?

Its specific activator is called milk_shake® the gloss acidic colour activator 6 vol. and its formula makes the colour remain under pH 7 (6.7), thus making it acidic.

6. Can I mix milk_shake® the gloss colour with other z.one concept™ activators?

No. If mixed with other formulas, the pH stability cannot be guaranteed and so the colour could be alkaline, thus losing the benefits of an oxidised acidic colour.

7. What is the mixing ratio?

The mixing ratio is standard. The mixing ratio is 1:1 therefore 60 g of colour must be mixed with 60 g of its specific activator.

8. Is it difficult to mix?

Absolutely not. Its texture is an oil which, after having been mixed with the activator, becomes a gel, so it’s quick and easy to apply.

Processing - Giving the Magic Time to Develop

9. If it’s an oil, does it drip during the processing time?

If the mixing ratio is respected and the product is mixed well, there are no problems at all during the processing time.

10. Is the processing time standard or does it change according to the objective?

The processing time is 20 minutes and is always recommended for all colour toning services. Only if the hair is very porous or weak, if cool tones are used, then the processing time should be reduced to 15mins.

11. Can I use a heat source?

A heat source is not recommended. The processing times are quite short and seeing that its use is mainly targeted at damaged or weak hair, the heat source could intensify the result too much.

Colour Spec’s – Colour Shades & Treatment

12. What are the main prerogatives of this colour?

This type of colour with its ingredients of natural origin and especially the hyper-fermented prickly pear extract, as well as its pH, improves the hair’s structure with each application, increasing the duration of the colour tones compared to a more traditional colour service. For these reasons, milk_shake® the gloss colour is defined as being a colouring TREATMENT.

13. How many shades are in the colour chart?

The milk_shake® the gloss colour chart has 29 pigmented shades + 1 neutral colourless shade, which can be mixed with the other shades to create lighter or shinier colours. This special colourless shade creates a shine & conditioning service for those clients who don’t want to change their hair colour.

SERVICE TYPES – WHEN TO USE WHAT FOR WHICH CLIENT?

14. How many the milk_shake® the gloss colour services are there?

Due to the synergy with other colours and products within the milk_shake® range, the salon professional can increase their services offered, with some very interesting offers.

GLOSS COLOUR

HD SHINE

GLOSS AND COLOUR

HD GLOSS COLOUR.

15. When should you recommend the gloss colour?

The GLOSS COLOUR is a colouring treatment that gives colour tones, improves, changes or intensifies colour-treated or lightened hair. (see technical manual for mixing ratios).

16. When is the HD SHINE service recommended?

To give shine to untreated or colour-treated hair without changing the hair’s colour. The synergy between milk_shake® the gloss colour + milk_shake® integrity hair reconstruction step B fibre sealant improves the condition and structure of the hair. (see technical manual for mixing ratios).

17. When is the GLOSS AND COLOUR service recommended?

This service is a combination of two ammonia-free colour treatments and is suitable for untreated hair at the base (regrowth) with a percentage of greys and colour-treated lengths that require colour toning. (see technical manual for mixing ratios).

18. Should the GLOSS AND COLOUR service only include smoothies or can I combine with creative colour as well?

Our z.one conceptTM METHOD requires the best milk_shake® colour according to the function and objective of the colour, lightening, and grey coverage in the regrowth area. On lengths and ends, which are generally more damaged and porous, if the objective is to tone the hair and to treat the structure to get the best result it is best or preferable to apply milk_shake® the gloss colour.

19. When is the HD GLOSS COLOUR service recommended?

The combination of milk_shake® the gloss colour + milk_shake® illuminate pure pigments, creates HD colour tones with incredible results in terms of colour toning and the duration of colour tones. This combination means that the colour chart has 30 shades, and 18 more mix combinations that create colours that aren’t already in the colour chart.

What about milk_shake® Smoothies?

20. Will this colour replace milk_shake® smoothies?

Absolutely not. They are two completely different technologies that guarantee different results. The two colours complement one another and this is shown in the GLOSS and COLOUR service, that has a stronger action in the natural untreated area of the hair that requires more intense colour, and with a more delicate action on lengths, where hair is more damaged. This synergy satisfies the demands of clients who need a good hair colour but need it to be ammonia-free.
