Always dedicated to pushing the boundaries and offering educational incentives to ensure that their stylists remain at the top of their game, Modern Hair & Beauty recently unveiled their new brand ambassadors for 2022 – 2023.
As cutting-edge stylists at the forefront of the industry, the Wella Professionals and Kadus Professional brand ambassadors are recognised as the very best in the business and are looked up to by apprentices and junior stylists who are just getting started in the industry.
“It’s a great privilege to be part of an incredible brand like Modern Hair & Beauty, and to be recognised as one of their hand-picked brand ambassadors,” says Wella Professionals Brand Ambassador Warren Schultz of Warren Schulz Hair. He has been a part of the Modern Hair & Beauty family for over seven years. “I love what I do, and I’m grateful that Wella Professionals has given me the products and platform to showcase my passion.”
“Becoming a brand ambassador is a huge honour and one that I am truly appreciative of,” says Wella Professionals Senior Brand Ambassador Flo Neacsu. It is through his curiosity and innovation that Flo has become a sought-after stylist, expert, and educator in the hair industry. He has won two Gold TrendVision South Africa awards and became a Wella Professionals brand ambassador for the first time in 2021. His salon, Excentric, has a sizable reach on Instagram, but Flo doesn’t consider himself a social media influencer. “Although I wouldn’t classify myself as a social media influencer, I am proud of the fact that I have influenced previous students and apprentices who have since become successful hairstylists. I also love that I have the opportunity and ability to influence my clients’ moods while they are in my chair.”
This is a sentiment that is shared by Wella Professionals Senior Brand Ambassador Charles Junior Louw. “My biggest objective right now is simply to inspire others. I want to be seen as the ambassador who inspires others and gets to the top regardless of any challenges that may come their way!” Charles Junior finds his inspiration mainly from fashion. “Looking at the way clothes are designed, as well as the colours and fabrics used, gives you a clear idea of where hair trends are heading.” Charles Junior has been with the Modern Hair & Beauty family for five years and is currently a master stylist and lightening specialist at Excentric. “I’m a strong-minded person who refuses to let anything get me down, and if just one other person is inspired by this, my job here is done,” he adds.
Wellaplex Makeover winner and Balayage boss, Jadie Herbst of Salon Jadie Professionals, describes being selected as a Wella Professionals Senior Brand Ambassador as a ‘surreal experience’. “I’ve worked very hard to get to where I am, so I’m thankful and appreciative of the recognition,” she says. “There’s nothing I love more than educating fellow stylists and seeing them grow and have their own ‘aha!’ moments along the way and being named a Wella Professionals Senior Brand Ambassador means I get to do just that!”
Many hairdressers find that pursuing other creative interests – be it fashion, photography, or art – has a big influence on their hair creations, but Wella Professionals Brand Ambassador Nicholas Anamourlis of Nikolas Michael Hair Extraordinaires, finds inspiration on the water. “One of my biggest creative disciplines is surfing. It’s very difficult and you must be tuned in to the weather, the wind, your position, your angle, and your weight distribution. It requires you to get quite creative at times, and you need to think on your feet – not unlike hairdressing!” Known for his precision cutting and obsession with colour melts and air-touched balayage, Nicholas is a four-time Wella Professionals TrendVision Award runner-up, but he is adamant that he will win it… eventually. “It doesn’t help that I have very stiff competition,” he laughs.
It's no secret that super-creatives are rarely efficient business people, but this is where Wella Brand Ambassador Donovan Foti of DJ Hairdressing stands out. “What many people don’t know is that I have a business degree. I studied business before I got into hairdressing, so that has helped me quite a bit – particularly in recognising the importance of delegating. I delegate the things I’m not very good at to those who are better at it, which makes everything run smoothly – and I get to focus on those things that I am good at, like colour.”
“I feel honoured to have been recognised and selected to represent Kadus Professional in South Africa,” says Kadus Professional Brand Ambassador Chad De Lange of The Cottage Hair Salon. I feel that it is important for us, as brand ambassadors, to foster a sense of connection and community within the industry.” Chad hopes to make an authentic impact on the industry during his ambassadorship by sharing his methods of working more efficiently and working together with other stylists as a team.
There is no doubt that Modern Hair & Beauty’s new brand ambassadors are going places. They are each exceptional hairdressers with a savvy business sense and a soaring social media presence, and we can’t wait to see what they will achieve over the next 12 months. Watch this space!
