Brand ambassadors are hairdressing influencers who are selected for the role based on their craft expertise and industry presence.
Modern Hair & Beauty unveiled and celebrated their newest brand ambassadors at a glitzy two-day event held at the Gorgeous George Hotel in Cape Town at the end of October 2022. After a welcome lunch and the handover of personalised gifts at Gorgeous George’s trendy Rooftop Bar, stylists were treated to “The Pink Room”, a creative session with MHB Field Education Manager Mariska Treurnicht. They were whisked off to a team-building Food Jam MasterChef Session in a chauffeur-driven limousine.
Mark Baker from MyGrow, a personal development tool that is rooted in positive psychology, hosted a transformative emotional intelligence workshop the following morning which many brand ambassadors described as lifechanging. The aim of MyGrow is to help individuals to develop the skills needed to flourish in both work and play by rewiring neural pathways and building emotional intelligence. The positivity and excitement of the team after the workshop was tangible and there’s no doubt that the brand ambassadors left with many new insights that will help propel them into the future.
Part of being a brand ambassador is having the ability to influence those around you, be it your social media followers, fellow stylists at the salon, or clients in your chair. “I’m still new to the social media influencing game,” says Kadus Professional brand ambassador Chad De Lange. “I have more of an influence face-to-face. I’m very comfortable connecting with people on a personal level, and I find that people tend to find it easy to open-up to me – almost like a therapist. I’d like to think that I have a positive influence on people in real life, but my social media presence is something that I’m working on,” he adds. Modern Hair & Beauty recognises the value of social media and the importance of cultivating a strong social media presence and, as such, included an informative Instagram Master Class on day two of the event to equip the brand ambassadors with the skills needed to grow and manage their following.
The overall aim of the two-day team-building event was to show appreciation for the brand ambassadors’ input and achievements over the past year, as well as celebrating newcomers to the team and brainstorming ideas for the year ahead. “The event was amazing, and I don’t think Modern Hair & Beauty could have picked a better ambassador team than we have right now,” says Wella Professionals senior brand ambassador Charles Junior Louw. “We are all likeminded people and I believe that we are all here for a reason with something worthwhile to contribute to the industry. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this team.”
“I feel really connected with the other brand ambassadors – so much more than before,” agrees Wella Professionals senior brand ambassador Flo Neacsu. “I feel empowered knowing that my educational content is valued, and I feel so much more creative and eager to jump into my social media content.”
Becoming a brand ambassador is a huge achievement and goal for many stylists on their way up in the industry and it is one step closer to becoming a global brand ambassador. Wella Professionals brand ambassador Nicolas Anamourlis echoes this sentiment: “My main objective as a brand ambassador? To make my way up in the global international team. I’d also like to get involved in the science behind everything; to get to Germany and help create some of these beautiful products would be the ultimate dream.”
“From the very first moment I started using Wella Professionals, I fell in love with the product,” explains Wella Professionals brand ambassador Donovan Foti. “But it’s so much more than that: it’s the service, it’s the people, it’s the culture. Wella Professionals is just the absolute best, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
