I cannot believe I am writing a Christmas message, the years seem to fly by faster and faster. I’m not sure if it’s my perception of time that’s changed or the modern world, as it keeps us so busy that we no longer take time to relax and reflect on our lives.

Once again 2019 has been an extremely difficult year, both socially and economically in SA. It seems like I have been mentioning this in my last 5 Christmas messages. Unfortunately this is our reality and we have to find a way to succeed and grow in spite of circumstances.

The most important aspect to success is taking personal responsibility over how your life evolves. It’s all too easy to blame circumstances over which we have no control, but to thrive we need to succeed in spite of the challenges. So how do we do this?

Firstly attitude is everything, unless you believe that you can succeed you cannot even start the journey and will continue to bumble along with familiar tasks that achieve nothing. Secondly you need a plan that is well throughout and achievable. Thirdly, you need to start doing stuff. Hoping and planning means nothing until things start being done. The biggest enemy to our progress is complacency and acceptance that our success is out of our control.

2019 has been a great year for Twincare. We bought Kevin Murphy, which has been spectacularly successful, we continue to grow Biosense which has become our 3rd biggest brand and we continue to grow Olaplex as the range expands. In addition we have launched some exciting new products like Braliz, a revolutionary and simple spray on straightening product, Xtra, a bulk retail range and REF, part of an emerging culture of environmentally conscious products.

We plan two exciting new product lines for the new year and have an exciting program planned for 2020 which is focussed on a new generation of Hairdresser that I’ve seen emerging over the last 18 months. The way we learn, socialise and interact with each other has and will continue to change. Our strategy is to try and adapt to these changes and engage with an industry that is fresh, different and relevant. I am excited by these emerging trends and hope to lead the industry in understanding and taking advantage of them.

To succeed in this environment we need fresh thinking. Much of our education program will be focused on engaging with you to develop practical programs that can inspire all of us.

I would like to thank you for your support and wish you a successful and prosperous festive season. On a personal level I would also like to thank you for the inspiration that the industry has provided me over the years. I love what I do, and I love working with you.

I will be thinking of you slaving away in your salon, selling my products while I am lying on the beach staring into the ocean.

Happy holidays! Stav Dimitriadis
