As a courtesy, the Department of Labour has informed salons that Department of Labour officials will be visiting hair salons from 22-26 July.

Stephen Delport from the Bargaining Council explains that salons will need to produce:

1.Copy of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act

2.Attendance register of employees, for past 2 months

3.Signed employment contracts or letters

4.Information on remuneration – payslips, overtime, leave pay etc

5.UIF registration number and proof of last payment

6.COIDA registration number and proof of last payment

7.Company letterhead or copy of CIPRO certificate

8.List of names and ID numbers of all employees

They will also ask salons to complete an Employer Profile form. See below for a copy of this form and a copy of the Department of Labour letter.
