Winter Trends from Bernadine Malan & India Choo

Superstars and trendsetters Bernadine Malan and India Choo predict what’s going to be hottest in their salons this winter season.

India Choo: DNA Salon, Bedfordview

For this winter, I am seeing a lot of velvet hair accessories teamed up with soft, natural looking hair waves. In terms of colour I believe we need to brighten our colours up a bit to contrast with the darker winter clothing colours. So I will be shifting my regular blondes to slightly brighter, icy blondes, or intensifying the reflects in all my colour to create a luminous glow. A big trend is colour blocking techniques which create statements and contrast in even the most calm commercial colours.

Bernadine Malan: Beauty on First, Edenvale

This winter a big trend is to create more dimension and shine to combat the dry, knotty, static winter hair. An absolute favourite product of mine to help achieve this is Goldwell Pure Pigments. I can drop it into my high lifters, tints and toners to create more luminous shine with better condition and longer lasting colours. The technique behind this effect is to create dimensions using foils, which also contributes towards the docket value of the service.
