Dark and Lovely Academy – Student Success Stories with Thabo Sithole

The Dark and Lovely Academy’s expert tuition and guidance has propelled this talented newcomer into a promising career. In just a few short months, Thabo Sithole has been able to open a salon business, earn a living through hairdressing, and become an EOHCB championship winner.

Thabo’s Success Story

Eight months ago, Thabo Sithole began his three-year part time hairdressing course at the Dark and Lovely Academy. His studies were funded by Services Seta. “When I started, I was not sure I would make it in hairdressing. I loved art, but I knew I needed so much theoretical and practical knowledge to succeed. When I arrived at the academy and looked at the amazing work students were creating, it gave me courage and confidence that I could do the same.”

At the Dark and Lovely Academy, Thabo was given a thorough grounding in all aspects of hairdressing, from the use of products to scalp analysis, from cutting shapes to customer service. The Academy also encourages students to enter competitions, and Thabo’s lecturers coached him intensively before he entered the EOHCB Championships at Gallagher Estates, in September 2017. He won the Bridal section out of a huge field of competitors, and was second in the Avant-Garde.

Thabo soon received offers to do hair part time, and today Thabo owns Pitchblack Hair and Beauty, at 6820 Sam Sekoati Avenue, Ext 9 Marimba Gardens, Vosloorus.

You can see more of his work on his salon’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
