Statement on Bargaining Council Issuing Level 4 Permits: Updated Info

The National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare Industry (“The Council”) was notified on Monday about a post that a salon was indicating that they were allowed to trade based on a permit supplied by The Council.

We would hereby like to confirm that there was a misunderstanding from the salon owner on the interpretation of what is allowed under Level 4 of the lockdown. The regulations only allow the retail of personal toiletries, including haircare, body, face, hand and foot care products, roll-ons, deodorants, and dental care products.

This matter has now been resolved and the advertised services were ceased with immediate effect.

We wish the establishment well with the retail of permitted products only during this time.

Kind regards,

Frik Bekker

Dear EOHCB Members & Industry,

With regards to an earlier post today and a statement released by the council, about the National Bargaining Council for Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare permitting Legends Barbershop to perform services during level 4 has been addressed by the council, the EOHCB and the owner, and its been confirmed that there was a misunderstanding in the interpretation of what is allowed in terms of level 4 of the lockdown regulations and the use of a permit to only retail personal toiletries, including haircare, body, face, hand and foot care products, roll-ons, deodorants, dental care products.

We confirm that the misinterpretation has been resolved and we wish Legends Barbershop well and safety whilst retailing permitted essential goods.
