Spring-Summer Catwalk Trends: Super-Slick and Natural Texture

THOM BROWNE:

Trend: super slicked-back

International icon Eugene Souleiman received an unusual brief – designer Thom Browne wanted the models to have hair so super-slicked back that it almost gave the impression they were bald – like a mannequin before the wig is added. This other-worldly and imaginative trend was achieved in the most artistic and beautiful way. To create this intense smoothness, Eugene used plenty of Wella’s EIMI stay Essential and EIMI Sculpt Force, brushed in with ghd’s Narrow Dressing Brush and dried with a ghd Air Dryer, used with a net held tight against the hair to ensure total smoothness. The result: Living sculptures!

VALENTINO:

Trend: Natural Texture

For Valentino’s show, Guido Paulo created very natural hair which emphasised the models’ individual hair textures. It’s clear that curls play an important part in this trend, but they are very subtle – an easy, natural looking beach wave, with a messy middle parting. The product used to achieve this was Redken’s No Blow Dry Cream, applied on damp hair, followed by waves created with a curling iron. The hair was then finished by Redken’s Fashion Work 12, to smooth the flyaways around the hairline.
