THASA Skills Development Programme

By Hlengi Hans Ngidi, THASA Alberton Skills Development Programme Manager

The Gauteng Department of Social Development is welcoming all students to THASA Alberton (The Hair Academy of South Africa). The hairdressing skills development program is created to improve the earning potential and circumstances of previously disadvantaged youth in South Africa, by providing high-quality training which will enable them to find employment within the hair and beauty industry.

This training boosts self-esteem, fosters motivation and social interaction and gives trainees the chance to enter into exciting, people-oriented careers. Beauty has the power to change lives, and we know that educating one young person is educating a generation. Students will go through a professional training program, thus enabling them to become skilled hairdressers.

The Academy is currently being renovated and enlarged to accommodate these students in this beautiful, easily accessible centre of learning. We wish all trainees a wonderful future in hairdressing!
